Off the wall and of the wall

As I pedaled home Saturday from the Downtown Farmer's Market, I found these in the alley south of Poyntz, between Fourth Street and Fifth.

Art and meta: art imitating art.

Having been trained by the rhino, we might now recognize this to be art. No explanation is necessary. Or sufficient.

The way of all flesh: hopping toward oblivion

  2. Fairfax, that's true. It's also true that the quality can be difficult to evaluate.

There's a great line in the movie "Basquiat". I can't remember it precisely, but its sense is this: nobody wants to be part of a generation that ignores another Van Gogh.

  3. Hmmmm... Stenciled, you think? Even if, they're still eye-catching and humorous. I'm quite fond of the rhino and the demand that he be seen as ART!, doggone it.

  4. Yep, they look to have been created from stencils.
