Absence Makes the Heart Grow

Ayn Rand droned on in Atlas Shrugged  for about 560,000 words, but it seems longer, doesn't it? Mary Ann Evans built Middlemarch from about 330,000 words, and many folks--including me--read it again and again. Microsoft Word tells me that my Blogger production since my last published entry is over 350,000 words, and I will confess that that entry could have been summed up in one of Stephen Sondheim's sappiest ballads--"Send in the Clowns".

I finished that entry long ago, and it will never see the light of day. (But there might be a  few stories or poems distilled from it.) When I finished that entry, I didn't have a well-defined reason for resuming publishing this bloggy thing, so I didn't publish. And I still can't explain why I'm here, except that I want to be.

So, we shall see.
